Climate Outlook for May, June, and July 2024:

  • Expected rainfall over the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, Central and South Rift Valley, and the Coastal region.
  • Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi and parts of the Southeastern lowlands, to experience rainfall in May, with cool and cloudy conditions and occasional light rains in June and July.
  • Rest of the country to receive occasional rainfall in May but remain generally dry in June and July.
  • Temperatures across the country expected to be warmer than normal, with the eastern half of the country likely experiencing warmer than average temperatures.

  • April was the peak of the Long Rains season for most areas, except the Coastal region where the peak is expected in May.
  • Most parts experienced near to above average rainfall, except for Voi Meteorological station which recorded below average rainfall.
