Increasing societies’ preparedness for extreme weather events and improving air quality monitoring in Kenya
FINKERAT
The FINKERAT project, led by the Finnish Meteorological Institute, aims to enhance East African societies' preparedness for extreme weather events and improve air quality monitoring in Kenya, Rwanda, and Tanzania. The FINKERAT project aims to strengthen the capacity of Kenya Meteorological Department, through facilitating the delivery of efficient and timely weather forecasts, early warning services, and air quality information, benefiting communities, administrative bodies, and policymakers. The project also collaborates with organizations such as the Finnish Red Cross to develop community-based early warning systems, ultimately aiming to indirectly benefit up to 130 million people across the region.
