Developing Risk Assessment through Joint Action
The Developing Risk Awareness Through Joint Action (DARAJA) project, spearheaded by the Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) in collaboration with Resurgence and other partners, is a pioneering initiative aimed at enhancing climate resilience among vulnerable populations in Nairobi's informal settlements. Through bridging the gap between communities and weather information providers, DARAJA ensures that residents receive timely, actionable weather forecasts and early warnings, enabling them to better prepare for and respond to climate-related hazards. This collaborative approach not only fosters hazard awareness but also empowers communities to take proactive measures, thereby reducing potential losses and safeguarding livelihoods.
